“I give Lone Star Transmissions 5 stars; they were GREAT! From the moment I walked in, it was awesome customer service and Sparky was very efficient, knowledgeable & truthful. I took my Honda Civic to a transmission shop (that does brakes, front end alignments, etc...) on Buckner Blvd in Dallas, TX. for a front end alignment. While I sat inside waiting, I saw 3 guys working on my car; and the very next day I started leaking transmission fluid. Long story short, those guys disconnected (unscrewed & took loose) things from my transmission. I was losing large amounts of transmission fluid. My fiancé referred me to Lone Star Transmissions and Sparky took very good care of me. I would recommend anyone, they are really good, straight & most of all honest. I guess those guys thought if that mess up my transmission, I would have to go back to them, but thank God for Sparky!”

Frequently Asked Questions
Have Some Questions? We’re Here to Help
How often should I service my vehicle?
Follow the intervals in your owner’s manual and your vehicle’s maintenance minder. As a rule of thumb, plan for oil changes every 5,000–7,500 miles (synthetic), tire rotations every 6,000–8,000 miles, brake inspections every service, and fluids/filters at manufacturer intervals. Lonestar Transmissions & Auto Repair can create a maintenance plan based on your mileage and driving conditions.
What does the check engine light mean?
A check engine light indicates the powertrain control module detected a fault. It could be minor (loose gas cap) or more serious (misfire, emissions, sensor failure). If it’s flashing, avoid driving and call us. We’ll scan diagnostic codes, test underlying systems, and provide an estimate before any work begins.
Should I use synthetic or conventional oil?
Many modern engines require synthetic oil for protection and longer intervals. We follow manufacturer specs for viscosity and oil type. If you’re unsure, we’ll recommend the right oil based on your engine, mileage, and driving habits.
Why do my brakes squeak or pulsate?
Squeaking can be caused by wear indicators, glazing, or debris; pulsation often points to rotor thickness variation or runout. We’ll measure pad thickness, rotor condition, and hydraulic performance, then recommend the right fix—pads/rotors, hardware, fluid service, or caliper work if needed.

Transmission Repair Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I service my transmission?
Most automatic transmissions should be serviced every 30,000 to 60,000 miles, depending on your vehicle’s manufacturer recommendations and driving conditions. Regular transmission service, including fluid replacement, helps prevent wear, overheating, and costly repairs down the road.
What are signs that my transmission is failing?
Common warning signs include slipping gears, delayed or rough shifting, grinding noises, fluid leaks under the vehicle, or a burning smell. If your check transmission or check engine light comes on, it’s best to have it inspected immediately before the problem worsens.
Can low transmission fluid cause serious problems?
Yes. Low or contaminated transmission fluid can cause overheating, slipping, and internal component damage. Transmission fluid is essential for cooling, lubrication, and smooth shifting. Always check for leaks and maintain proper fluid levels to avoid expensive transmission repairs.
What should I do if my transmission is slipping?
If your transmission slips between gears or struggles to accelerate, stop driving and have it checked as soon as possible. Continuing to drive with a slipping transmission can cause severe internal damage and lead to a complete transmission failure.
Should I rebuild or replace my transmission?
Whether to rebuild or replace depends on the extent of the damage, the age of your vehicle, and cost considerations. A rebuild can be more affordable if only certain components are worn, while a full replacement may be necessary for severely damaged or high-mileage transmissions.
